Christmas Angels

Christmas Angels

HABI, the Philippine Textile Council has collaborated with a sewing group from Taguig to produce these Christmas Angels. These are upcycled from textile scraps and cut offs made by the weavers of Ilocos, Bicol, Zamboanga and Iloilo.

Marylib Casador, who leads the sewing group, learned how to sew from her lola and her mother when she was only five years old. For 23 years she worked as a seamstress in Talleres de Nazareth Foundation to put her siblings to school, but in 2016 she resigned to take care of her ailing mother. She eventually put up her own sewing group in Taguig which included two youths whom she also sent to school in TESDA.

Swiss Embassy Philippines has partnered with @smsupermalls and @sparkphilippines to sell these NINE Christmas angels intricately crafted from sustainable materials and made by women communities around the country.
