We’re happy to share the meaningful progress we’ve made in advancing our advocacy for the preservation, development, and modernization of Philippine textiles. To date, we have published four books, and we're currently working on a new volume focused on one of our premier indigenous fabrics—abaca.
Mrs. Maribel Ongpin getting us started with the opening remarks.
We've also made great strides in our piña and abaca weaving competitions, which have sparked growing interest and continue to yield increasingly impressive entries.
Our participation in the ASEAN Traditional Textile Symposium in Laos was both enriching and enjoyable. It provided valuable insights into how our fellow ASEAN countries are supporting and sustaining their indigenous textile traditions.

It was a pleasure to welcome both returning and new HABI members, as well as our steadfast vendors, to the Annual General Assembly.
Ms. Mia C. Villanueva then proceeded with the President's Report, unveiling key plans and programs for 2025 including the new venue for the Likhang HABI Market Fair!
She also highlighted the "Sponsor A Weaver" program launched last year, and acknowledged the valuable contributions of the interns, led by Wilma Huang, to the organization.
Lia Cheung shared her insights about the Likhang HABI Market Fair through an article on the website, while Rian Yupitun stepped into the spotlight as a “Young Entrepreneur” with the launch of her HABI Girls book at the fair.
Following the general assembly, an insightful talk was delivered by Professor Cristina Juan from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London, on “Digital Cultural Repatriation: Filipino Artifacts in Museums Abroad.”
After the talk, HABI held a raffle where members had the chance to win exciting prizes, including HABI Books and the NCCA 2025 calendar.
